Charming Cottage Rentals for Carefree Vacations

  CHIMNEY ROCK, NC
Address:  911 Main St., Chimney Rock, NC 28720

Near Asheville and Hendersonville, our Christmas Cabin is ideally located in the Blue
Ridge foothills close to Lake Lure, which National Geographic claimed was "one of the
most beautiful man-made lakes in the world."  Overlooking the  shimmering  waters and
   dramatic peaks rising
from the lake is Chimney Rock State Park, with its breathtaking
views and miles of hiking trails.

Wonderful to visit year-round, this area offers plenty of outdoor adventure and activities
including hiking, rock climbing, biking, ziplining, tubing, whitewater rafting, swimming,
boating, fishing, horseback riding, golfing, and geocaching.
In the winter, skiers take to
the slopes in Maggie Valley and Banner Elk.

In the "iso-thermal zone," winters are temperate, summers are warm, and the spring and fall seasons are breathtaking!  October through November is "Leaf Season"--a glorious explosion of colors when driving the Blue Ridge Parkway is one of the best ways to enjoy the height of the colors.  Asheville and the famous Biltmore Estate features charming shopping, nightlife, and legendary restaurants.

A favorite of Hollywood, this stunning area was featured in the blockbuster hit Dirty Dancing, as well as The Last of the Mohicans, and Firestarter.

Our property has a storied past:

The Christmas Cabin
is the former Wedding Cottage on the grounds of
the historic Esmeralda Inn built in 1891. The original Esmeralda was the
first stage coach stop in the area.  In 1915, motion picture makers
discovered The Esmeralda and the Hickory Nut Gorge area.  It quickly
became a favorite spot of silent movie stars and several silent films were actually filmed at the property. Notables such as Mary Pickford, Gloria Swanson, Douglas Fairbanks, Clark Gable and others used The
Esmeralda as a hideout.  Noted author Lew Wallace finished the script
for Ben Hur in Room #9.                                                                                                                                                                     Antique postcard showing the original
